How to disable UAC in Vista ?

June 23, 2007

What is User Account Control (UAC) ?

User Account Control (UAC) is a feature in Windows that can help prevent unauthorized changes to your computer. UAC does this by asking you for permission or an administrator‌ password before performing actions that could potentially affect your computer’s operation or that change settings that affect other users.

UAC is undoubtedly annoying feature in Vista , seeming to pop up even when you try to open vista build in programs. But is does provides robust security solution, something XP and other version lacking.

But for the here and now , you can disable it and loose almost all the extra security strength offered by vista pretty quickly.

The simple way to disable is
1) Go to Windows Run Command  ( winkey+r)
2) Type MSCONFIG and hit Enter
3) Once MSCONFIG window is Open , go to the tools tabs, scroll down to
“Disable UAC” , Click it and click the launch button. A little command prompt box will open and UAC is disabled. You need to restart the system for the change to take effect.
